VANISH acts like a chance shield, turning you into a faded outline with a 75% chance of enemies missing you, JUMP allows you to immediately move to the stylus, and MINI shrinks every enemy onscreen except Scalers. Powerups will last 16 seconds I think.
A powerup that will randomly give you one of six abilities somewhat based on the enemies. The powerups are PUSH, FLIP, MATCH, VANISH, JUMP, and MINI. PUSH nudges all nearby enemies away, FLIP makes all Pointers move AWAY from you, MATCH makes all the enemies the same (which can be good OR bad)
And POLYGON's Version 1.0 General Options screen is complete! Saving these might come in the future. Next is the last planned feature for this version, the MetaCube powerup!
Okay, I'll add the powerup first then. Either way, custom music and color effects as well as control options will probably be part of an update. New enemies maybe too, I just want the original six for Version 1.0
Most of the gameplay is complete! In this screenshot, only two of six possible enemies are present. Should I add the MetaCube powerup before releasing this, or should it be included in an update?
POLYGON version 1.1 will add some color effects and custom music, I hope :) Other plans include new enemies and an option for control style (circle pad or stylus, upper screen for 3D or lower screen)
I got all of the enemies and their movement patterns/behaviours programmed in! I don't have internet on my 3DS right now though... Next I'll be adding the MetaCube power-up and the game over screen. After that, the options menu for color settings and stuff then Version 1.0 will be ready for release!
:P Well, development really dropped when school started for me again, but now I'm committing myself to more time programming when I have the spare time. I actually successfully first completed making this game on Scratch, but it's gone now. I decided to wait until SmileBASIC's release before remaking it.
A game I'm working on called Polygon. This specifically is where you can toggle which enemies will spawn for a custom game. Check out my other posts to learn more about it!
This is getting somewhere... :D Also, I managed to shrink the program file size by like 100 lines by changing the way menus are handled, now there's just ONE control loop that does it all and only goes to other initialization routines!
Well, I'm currently programming a function to move sprites smoothly and I haven't gotten to the main game yet, but I hope soon! Like at LEAST before summer :)
You play as a square controlled with the stylus. Over time, enemies of other shapes spawn in, such as Circles which bounce off walls, triangles that follow you slowly, and rectangles that move all over the place. Being touched by these will trigger game over. Your goal is to get the highest score! And this is only some of what the game features. There are even power-ups that generate over time!
