its like an semi open world rpg-ish games where you survive and try to take over all the islands, you take them over by gaining trust or saving them, sometimes you will be elected as king sometimes just earn favors lol

that's the whole point of the game lol. you complete quests, but you have to choose wisely, see sometimes one island will ask you to attack the other, and visa versa, you can just walk away or attack the one you choose, sometimes it causes wars, sometimes a bounty is put on your head lol.
