It already contains three dimensional movement, a city (It's there, just isn't rendered yet), and the ability to collect patches! Oh, and the amazing City Trial theme, of course!
Use the D-pad to turn, and A to "jump". (Just a place holder for flying!) Your X, Y, and Z positions will be printed on screen, as well as the three dimensional location data telling you what type of ground you are...
Features will include:
99 totally unique and HUGE cities
256 stadium events
three all new patches that increase your Luck, Corruption, and Grand Dad stats
thousands of new stars (perfectly balanced of course)
Will run at 180 FPS versus the originally predicted 120!
Obviously, this Pre-Alpha is far from finished, but it still has some key features!
Well, I guess it's time to announce this! City Trail for SmileBASIC! You can download the pre-alpha right now! Thanks to the recent SmileBASIC update which added built in support for 3D models, I figured now was my chance to create a sequel to my favorite game! Download code is [7K3KXXDS]! If Nintendo won't do it, I will! More info in comments...
First off
The glitch effects are absolutely amazing.
Second off
Crashing people's 3DSs even on April Fool's is mean and potentially damaging!
That said, this app is amazing. I'm just giving out some helpful April Fool's guidelines!
No, Five Nights at Freddy's is not on this. There's a version that was being worked on, but it got shut down for legal reasons. Still, there are plenty of great games you can play on SmileBASIC, so it's definitely worth it!
Nope, they won't delete anything, they just lock you out of uploading any more projects until you delete enough from the server. This means, if your gold status expires, you can go onto the server, download any projects you need off of it, and nothing will be lost.
Your not really missing anything without it. All it does is allow you to upload up to 100 projects instead of 10 at once, and each project can be up to 20 MB instead of the normal 4 MB limit. Basically, unless you need more space on the cloud, there's no reason to purchase gold.
Hey, I don't know if you saw my comment on the Originality discussion, but I mentioned that Yatzy is actually a public domain game. The name "Yahtzee" is copyrighted by Hasbro, but they don't own the Yatzy game itself, like I said it's public domain. So you can actually publish it under the name "Yatzy"! It really isn't any different than making, say, checkers or chess in SmileBASIC.
Oh, and BTW @Ed, Yatzy is actually a public domain game. The name "Yahtzee" is copyrighted by Hasbro, but they don't own the Yatzy game itself, like I said it's apparently public domain (According to Google, anyways). So you can actually publish it under the name "Yatzy"! It really isn't any different than making, say, checkers or chess.
Same. Remaking a game is great for practice, but I see far too many people doing it, and you know they're not just doing it for practice. On top of that, beginners are coming in and trying to make GTA and Minecraft as their first project. They "announce" it immediately after making a half-functioning title screen, and then a bunch of people actually believe they are going to finish the game.
They're working on it. They just need to get all the necessary translations for Europe I think. It took them a year after the Japanese release to get the American version out, so there's really no way to tell how long it will take, sadly.
16-bit sprites used 16-bit color palettes. It doesn't necessarily have to be a certain size. Technically, a 16-bit sprite could have up to 256 colors at once. I'm not really sure how to make a sprite look more "16-bitish", though I certainly know what you're talking about. The first thing that comes to my mind is just adding more detail and shading, but I'm really not an artist so I'm not sure.
SmileBASIC is an awesome app that you can program your own games and apps in! If you're not interested in programming, there are still a ton of user made games and apps that you can download. It's definitely worth $10!
