Dates are in the form "YYYY/MM/DD", the same as the DATE$ system variable. This is most obviously for real-time applications, where you would need to tell how many days have passed between sessions. The actual output is the number of days past December 31, 2012, and only works on dates January 1, 2013 or later.
As BASIC interpreters on game consoles go, this is pretty much the best I've ever used. It's been tuned toward game making, with built-in art tools and functions that let you use 3D, touch screen, gyro, accelerometer, and the mic. Some of the features take a little learning, but they're there for the adventurous.
