1. Well number 1 rule to making a game is don't give up on your project! It will take time researching, and creating the code, art, ect. You will notice more time will be on research on learning new technique to get started, like first write down on paper or a subject notebook for just that project. make a flow chart of how you like the game to be in steps for all events to the game,
think about how you want the game to work and interact with the user and note that in your project book too, draw a ruff draft of how you like the interface to look, some or all art, music, ect.
2. the 2nd. rule is get use to the tools you are using to better understand how they work. like understanding each command and how it can be used. me I make a test module for each command and test it that way, and look at how others use it to better grap how it works, to set a standard in my mind on how to use the command, ect.
3. the 3rd. rule don't be afraid to ask a question if you get stuck on making your game but try to figure it out yourself before you ask, we seem to learn better that way.
