I'd suspect the average age will skew higher in this particular community compared to other miiverse communities. The learning curve for this app is pretty high compared to the rest of the titles available on the eShop so I expect the users who will primarily use this are those who already know how to program. I am 24 in case you are curious.

You redeemed yourself. The initial comment came off noobish the comments about not being a noob turned it trollish but a troll would never say he was sorry so complete redemption in the end :D

Yeah but your question isnt for newcomers its for people with more experience than you. Your original question comes off as either a noob who doesnt know you cant just make a 3D shooter out of nothing or a troll (which your responses now don't seem to indicate you being a troll) You dont need to use heavy jargon or anything like that but you will get better feedback if you are more specific

Didnt say you were a noob however the comment did sound noobish. Someone with experience would have asked a more technically specific question like "is there a built in way to draw something in 3D space?" or something to that effect.

If you know it then simply use that knowledge to figure out how to get the 2d images to render in a way that looks 3D. I dont know the specifics on that but like I said im unaware of any built in commands for drawing graphics among multiple depths so you will have to figure out how to translate a point in 3D space into a 2D point on the screen manually.

I think they removed petit solely because this was eventually coming out and they didnt want people to buy the old one while waiting for the new one and not get the new one.

Id reccomend starting with something smaller or at the very least 2D. I am unaware if smile basic has any commands for doing anything 3D so anything first person 3D stuff you see here in miiverse are done by really smart people who know how to do 3D math and stuff.

This one does away with QR codes and sharing projects is done over the Internet with a very short download code. Not gonna lie it's still a pain in the butt to learn how to make games in this version as it was in the previous but project downloading is now effortless.

Agreed but it was powerful for those willing to take the time to learn it. Past version was used to remake megaman 2. This version is supposedly way more powerful. Still not beginner friendly but it's not trying to be. It's trying to be flexible and powerful which this version succeds at wonderfully

It's good to learn on but not with. It's a fantastic environment to practice on but it doesn't offer you any built in tutorials. It kinda drops you into the deep end and expects you to go out of your way to figure out how to use it. That said it is capable of a lot so you can make some really cool things if you take the time to learn it.

no. It helps but being good at english offers a greater advantage. programs do the math for you all you need to know is what formula you need which are often either simple or googlable. If you are good at using proper grammar learning to program is a breeze since the hardest thing for new programmers is often syntax.

If you are allowed to use miiverse then you should be able to get answers to any questions you have but its better to learn through tutorials (which are not built into the app)

Any good programmer needs Internet to constantly look up docs. It shouldn't be TOO hard to learn with docs but if you don't have it it becomes much harder. Not impossible as that's how I learned on my TI-84 calculator but not without asking teachers who knew programming questions and a lot of trial error

It is quite a different language but look up some tutorials and you should be fine! My first language was actually TI's implementation of basic on the TI 84 calculator. It's not my favorite language but it was easy enough to learn TI's implementation without tutorials by just seeing what did what. While SmileBASIC is quite a bit different it shouldn't be much harder to learn.

It's worth buying purely on concept alone for anyone who appreciates programming. It has an admittedly high learning curve compared to other apps available on the eShop and touch screen keyboards always suck but more apps like this need to exist!
