Unlike a Japanese kana which takes on only one or two sounds, an English letter may make many sounds. The "G"s sound differently in Girl, Gem, miraGe, touGh, eiGht, and hiccouGh. For this reason in the NA version TALK only reads out the letters (G-I-R-L) which isn't useful. I had to "cheat" by making the man speak in Japanese kana in my localization of GAME6TALK (74NXS3HJ) for example.
