I need help with shape collision I can do sprite collision but not collision with shapes please help!

This game is awesome it's so funny but so hard XD

I want to make a game were you shoot up at aliens like galaga but I don't know how all I can do is move my stick figure left and right and have him put an arrow on top of his head(supposed to someday be the bullet) please help me :.l

So i was watching youtube and learning how to make the little stick figure move but for some reason it dosn't work it says there's some sort of problem with my first locate (LOCATE X,Y:)

I want to purchase this game but don't know how many blocks it takes. and how old should you be to program or to start?
