Once a win condition, shopkeep and hero cave (persistant digging level untouched by perma-death) are implemented and some real combat formulas are worked out then the 1st BETA version (0.0.6) will be released with a shopkeep naming contest...

Just want to add that even though I'm aware of most of the gameplay issues I *really* appreciate the input ... it helps the game become better. Some comments on the interface would help too. The goal is to have a rogulike with an easy interface but difficult gameplay, not unfair. In version 0.0.5 it's unfair to the player. Some of those issues are addressed in version 0.0.6 but not all yet...

The mossy stone gives you better strength to kill them with melee and the orb helps kill them with magic... but the game still needs a lot of work before it's actually fun, i know ... there's still no real incentive yet to play it, even for fans of roguelikes ... working on fixing that! :)

Seeing that in 13 depths you never dug gold I'm guessing you didn't know about tunneling. Choose Melee and press B while facing the direction you want to dig. The built in helps gives more tips. Also, your stats show that you didn't kill enough to level up and dove deep quickly. The game punishes this playstyle...it's a roguelike :)

if you mean could not reach stairs, then you know that you can dig right? if you mean too many dragon babies, there's ways around that too! :) The first BETA version will include many updates and play enhancements. Poison creep, scrolls and throws are implemented now and the ID system is being built. As always, this a supported WIP ... keep a look out for the latest updates.

is that a trick question? ... if you look at the source, you'll find the algorithms used are extensively documented. short answer: it's a procedurally generated roguelike tomorrow's release will complete the alpha stage and then it's onto beta where all the placeholder formulas will be tweaked for gameplay...

I'm so sorry...I promise the next update will have real gameplay and actual challenge. Almost done with mechanics and ready to work on making it fun...I do have a design plan, it's coming together bit by bit... I just needed to get most of the game elements up and running first. Should be one more update before Christmas, and that's the one that you need to get. : ) Thanks for your patience all!

lol yeah, it's still got a ways to go to be a full game. Your teleport idea is excellent! Reminds me of Diablo 1. That will be one of the unidentified scroll types for sure. Also, the battle system will get more attention. Many updates coming so don't give up on the game. I love roguelikes since the orginal so I'm determined to continue until this is actually challenging/fun...

Also note that with that algorithm, names like Thelma, or Kathy, or Albert or even Archive will never be generated. Still, it's a quick and easy method to create passable names.

It doesn't do any type of pronunciation checking. The algorithm is very weak it just starts with an uppercase alphabet letter (vowel or not) then it checks if it's a vowel or not and appends the opposite type in lowercase until the name is within a bounded length. The flaw of such a brutish method is like you pointed out, sometimes the names might not make phoenetic sense.

Dragon Types: Green is health; Pink is poison; Yellow is shock; Blue is Ice; Red is fire; Hue-shifting is all of them at once. Hue-shifting dragons spawn babies that change their color and attributes with every step! All dragon types now exist on different levels but their abilities still need implemented.
