Well I finally lost it. It had already become loose and would wiggle a lot in the slot. Best way/place to replace the N3DS XL stylus?

go to gamestop, I have gotten over 20 free ones there, just be sure to ask if they have extra ones not to buy some, most of the time they will have plenty of them, though not sure if all gamestops do that. sometimes they will be like "sure come look at our overly priced styluses" but a lot they will pull out some nice ones (different color ones though mostly) I lose mine a lot..

Yep, I started using a scripto. Thanks though I just ended up getting a replacement with some screen protecters.
