PetitModem is hard to get working. Make sure to choose the slowest speed, and the two way communication mode (duplex if I remember). Also make sure the settings on the computer and smile basic sides match. Packing and unpacking files is also fairly cryptic. If you have the special cable try plugging mic into headphone and headphone into mic. If not turn things up obnoxiously loud and hope.
Okay cool, I will have to try the one way (Simplex) because I can not get the two way to work for the life of me (ARQ). But if it doesn't pick it all up through Simplex can I run the "simple " again to fill in the missing parts or must it be a new transfer?
I just learned of this today Ju, but even so the splitter and cords all have 2 bands (3 segments). My splitter though, does not specify mic/headset in but I read it should still work just with interference if the wires are crossed. I am going to order all new parts (with labels) today and hope that works.
I appreciate all the help and feedback from everyone! I hope to have something produced very soon! I am also trying to understand the Raycaster Calc84manic created.
The splitter. As far as I understand one metal band is power/neutral?, one is left ear and one is right ear. If you have the mythical fourth band that's the mic.
Okay, got the correct splitter (4 segments) the only problem is it doing the same thing! I connected mic to speaker\speaker to mic. Does PetitModem automatically turn on the PC mic or must I do that?
Okay thanks for all the help, I think I have exhausted all of my options. Hopefully I will have some images posted here soon, but for now it's time to tinker with the damn settings!
