Those of you who are wondering how to do walking animation, here you go! It's pretty easy to do it the hard way, instead of using SPANIM, but you do pay in price of jerkiness, and more CPU cycles. Still, if you're okay with that, then easy as pie!

The formula is Character Sprite No + Direction*Steps + Step W1 is the cycle period W2 is the number of steps

I did have one more question though, how would I display a sprite larger than the character used in the example?

Since I'm lazy, I just use SPSCALE. :p But you can use SPSET N,U,V,W,H for bigger sprites.
